Maureen Ambrose, PT, DPT, OCS, COMT

Physical Therapist / Dry Needling Certified / Residency Director

Dr. Ambrose completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. She is a board-certified Orthopedic Specialist (OCS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) and Dr. Ambrose has an interest in treating orthopedic conditions and sports injuries of athletes of all ages.

Dr. Ambrose completed her undergraduate studies at University of Maryland, College Park where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Neurobiology and Physiology. While at Maryland, she played and captained the Women’s Club Lacrosse team.

Dr. Ambrose finished the dry needling certification program through the Janet Travell, MD Seminar Series. This rigorous training in dry needling was instructed by internationally renowned physical therapist Jan Dommerholt and others, and concluded with a certification as a Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist (CMTPT) through Myopain Seminars. Dr. Ambrose is also certified as an orthopedic manual physical therapist (COMT) through the prestigious Ola Grimsby Institute and she is a certified orthopedic manipulative physical therapist (OMPT) through a program instructed by internationally renowned manual physical therapist Jim Meadows.

Dr. Ambrose enjoys leading an active lifestyle, cooking, and traveling.

John A. Baur, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS, FAAOMPT

Physical Therapist

Dr. Baur earned his Doctorate and Master’s degrees in Physical Therapy from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, School of Medicine, with a focus on neuromuscular injury of the spine and orthopedic sports injury. In addition, he completed his Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiology, with honors, from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Dr. Baur is a board-certified Orthopedic Specialist (OCS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS). He completed an American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT) accredited fellowship training program in orthopaedic manual physical therapy and Dr. Baur is a fellow (FAAOMPT) of the prestigious AAOMPT.

Dr. Baur completed the Janet Travell, MD Seminar Series dry needling training program. This rigorous training in dry needling was instructed by internationally renowned physical therapist Jan Dommerholt and others, and concluded with a certification as a Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist (CMTPT) through Myopain Seminars. He is a certified Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapist (OMPT), a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), and a certified Dive Medical Technician through the International Board of Undersea Medicine.

Dr. Baur is a former adjunct faculty member in orthopaedics at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, School of Medicine, Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitative Science. He is currently a Clinical Coordinator of Clinical Education (CCCE) and Clinical Instructor (CI) for several physical therapy programs across the United States. Dr. Baur is a member of both the Orthopaedic Section and Sports Section of the APTA, and he has completed the numerous continuing educational courses instructed by many internationally renowned medical specialists.

Dr. Baur specializes in outpatient orthopaedic and manual therapy spine care. For fourteen years he oversaw the physical therapy care for the 400+ varsity athletes at Loyola University, Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Baur has an interest in treating afflictions of the spine and orthopedic.

Roy Bechtel, PT, PhD

Physical Therapist

Dr. Bechtel has taught orthopedic Physical Therapy at the University of Maryland School of Medicine for over 30 years. He retired in 2011 as Course Director for the orthopedic Physical Therapy curriculum and is now an adjunct Assistant Professor, part time.

Dr. Bechtel has worked at New York University Medical Center, Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center, and most recently the University of Maryland Medical Center, from which he retired in 2015 as a Clinical Specialist in Orthopedics.

Dr. Bechtel has taught numerous continuing education courses here and abroad, has published several scientific articles and a book. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT).
He has earned the following degrees:

  • BA – Urban Studies
  • BS – Physical Therapy
  • MA – Physical Therapy
  • PhD – Biomechanics

Dr. Bechtel will treat patients at the Columbia/Clarskville location. He is out-of-network for all insurances and will not see patients with Medicare Insurance coverage.

Mark Boyland, PT, DPT, CSCS

Physical Therapist / Dry Needling Certified

Dr. Boyland received his Doctor of Physical Therapy and Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Sports Studies from D’Youville College of Buffalo, NY.  He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).  Dr. Boyland is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA.

Dr. Boyland completed the Janet Travell, MD Seminar Series dry needling training program. This rigorous training in dry needling was instructed by internationally renowned physical therapist Jan Dommerholt and others, and concluded with a certification as a Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist (CMTPT) through Myopain Seminars.

Dr. Boyland likes to empower patients to help improve their independence so they can feel confident in their ability to move and function.  He has experience in treating a variety of populations especially those with chronic inflammatory conditions.  Dr. Boyland utilizes myofascial release, joint mobilizations, and Instrument Assisted Tissue Mobilization and Cupping to provide pain relief, to promote better functional movement, and improved exercise tolerance.

Dr. Boyland enjoys eating to exercise and exercising to eat on a regular basis.  He enjoys weightlifting and the occasional jogging as a way to stay active.  But he generally enjoys staying physically active any way he can.

Bridget Collier, PT, DPT

Physical Therapist / Dry Needling Certified

Dr. Collier earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore and she completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science at High Point University in North Carolina. During her years in school, Bridget worked as a swim instructor and lifeguard.

Dr. Collier completed the Janet Travell, MD Seminar Series dry needling training program. This rigorous training in dry needling was instructed by internationally renowned physical therapist Jan Dommerholt and others, and concluded with a certification as a Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist (CMTPT) through Myopain Seminars.

During Dr. Collier’s doctoral training, she completed clinical rotations in multiple outpatient clinics specializing in sports, outpatient orthopedics, and balance disorders. Dr. Collier enjoys treating a variety of patients with a special interest in the youth athletic and active populations. Bridget believes in building a strong rapport with all her patients to enhance the rehabilitative experience.

In her free time, Dr. Collier enjoys spending time in the water, working out, and trying new restaurants with her friends. She also enjoys taking weekend trips to her hometown in Connecticut to visit family.

Phil Diedeman Jr, PTA, COPTA

Physical Therapist Assistant

Phil earned his associate’s degree in Health and Allied Sciences, and Physical Therapist Assistant certificate from Baltimore City Community College. While enrolled Phil experienced numerous inpatient and outpatient clinical settings but has always been most passionate about treating in the outpatient orthopedic setting.
Phil has worked outpatient orthopedics for 7+ years and is always looking to expand upon his treatment skills and approach. Phil completed a 2-year orthopedic certification program through The Association of Clinical Excellence and is a Certified Orthopedic Physical Therapy Assistant (COPTA).

Phil is currently working on his CPT (certified personal trainer) and CSPS (Certified Special Population Specialist) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Phil is hoping to use these skills to develop a safer and more skilled transition to gym programs beyond formal treatment for patients with a higher risk or history of injury.

In his spare time Phil enjoys watching football, working out, playing with his 2 dogs, and improving his semi pro Bowling skills.

Laurie Engelhardt, PT, DPT

Physical Therapist

Dr. Engelhardt earned her Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, School of Medicine and a business certificate from the Johns Hopkins University, Carey Business School’s Business of Medicine MBA program. Dr Engelhardt also received her Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Dr. Engelhardt has over 20 years of experience in orthopedic physical therapy and she has experience working in inpatient acute / subacute settings. Her experience includes seeing patients in general med/surge, cardiac, wound care, neurology and intensive care units. She enjoys working with seeing post-op patients that are recovering from joint replacement surgery and geriatric patients.

Joanne Forman, LMT

Licensed Massage Therapist

Joanne received her Associate of Applied Science degree in the Physical Therapy Assistant program from Baltimore City Community College, Baltimore, Maryland. She has 30 years of experience working in outpatient physical therapy.

Joanne is also nationally certified in Therapeutic Massage & Body Work from the Holistic Massage Training Institute and has been a licensed massage therapist for many years. She specializes in sports, Swedish, deep tissue massages, trigger point release, and myofascial release techniques. Joanne also incorporates hot stones and cupping in her practice

Samantha Gubka, PT, DPT, OCS, SCS, FAAOMPT

Physical Therapist / Fellowship Administrator

Dr. Gubka received her doctor of physical therapy degree from the University of Minnesota. She completed an Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency and became a board-certified specialist in both Orthopaedic Physical Therapy (OCS) and Sports Physical Therapy (SCS). Samantha completed an Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy Fellowship in Sports Rehabilitation. She currently clinical faculty for MVP’s Orthopaedic Residency, clinical faculty for MVP’s Orthopaedic Manual Therapy Fellowship in Sports Rehabilitation, and adjunct faculty at University of Puget Sound. Samantha also serves on numerous committees through APTA that includes: ABPTRFE’s Credentialing Committee, ABPTRFE’s Program Services Committee and ABPTS’s Specialization Academy of Content Experts – Orthopaedic.

Grayling Harrison, PT, DPT, OCS

Physical Therapist / Dry Needling Certified

Dr. Harrison received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Morgan State University and he received his Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.

Dr. Harrison has a special interest in orthopedic and sports physical therapy. He is a board-certified Orthopedic Specialist (OCS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS). Dr Harrison is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), and American Academy of Sports Physical Therapy (AASPT).

Dr. Harrison interest in physical therapy began while playing football as a wide receiver at Morgan State University. Being a student-athlete allowed him to gain unique insight and experience in physical therapy assessment, diagnose, and treatment of many different musculoskeletal injuries.

In his spare time Grayling enjoys spending quality time with family, exercising and fishing.

Joseph Holmes, PT, DPT, OCS, CDN, FNCP

Physical Therapist

Dr. Holmes holds a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from Ohio University, has a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Miami University and is a board-certified Orthopedic Specialist (OCS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS). Joseph decided on a career in physical therapy after seeing the positive results and long-lasting effects physical therapy can have on a person’s life.

Dr. Holmes is experienced in orthopedic and sports physical therapy, as well as taking a diverse approach to overall prevention, healing, and wellness with all patient populations. Dr. Holmes is certified in Dry Needling through the Institute of Advanced Musculoskeletal Treatments (IAMT) and he is certificated in Functional Nutrition for Chronic Pain. Dr. Holmes is an expert in performing 3D functional movement assessments through the use of the DorsaVi system as well as functional movement testing with the FMS.

Outside of work, Dr. Holmes enjoys reading, gardening, and cooking with his wife and son. Dr. Holmes is an active resident of the Hampden-Wyman Park neighborhood and takes passion in creating a living environment that allows everyone to be healthy.

Ray Moore, III, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT

Residency & Fellowship Mentor

Dr. Moore completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore (UMES), Department of Physical Therapy. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology at University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP). He continues to participate in research involving light therapy and low back with UMES.

Dr. Moore is residency trained in orthopaedic physical therapy and he is a board-certified Orthopedic Specialist (OCS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS). Dr. Moore also completed the Janet Travell, MD Seminar Series dry needling training program. This rigorous training in dry needling was instructed by internationally renowned physical therapist Jan Dommerholt and others, and concluded with a certification as a Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist (CMTPT) through Myopain Seminars.

Dr. Moore completed an American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT) accredited fellowship training program in orthopaedic manual physical therapy and he is a fellow (FAAOMPT) of the prestigious AAOMPT.

Dr. Moore is also a residency mentor for PTF Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency program and he is a member American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Orthopaedic section. He lives in Federal Hill and enjoys participating in trivia and recreational sports leagues.

Austin Mowrey, PT, DPT

Physical Therapist

Dr. Mowrey earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) and he completed a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a minor in Psychology from Salisbury University.

Dr. Mowrey is currently enrolled in the Physical Therapy First residency program to further his knowledge, skills, and experience. He plans to become a board-certified specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy once completing the PTF residency program.

In Dr. Mowrey’s free time he likes to exercise, travel, and spend time with his friends and family.

Evan Peterson, PT, DPT

Physical Therapist

Dr. Peterson earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Neumann University located in Aston, Pennsylvania. Prior to attending Neumann, he received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh.

While attending Neumann University, he completed clinical rotations at a variety of settings specializing in sports rehabilitation and other general orthopedic conditions. Dr. Peterson enjoys working with a wide range of patients and wishes to encourage a healthy active lifestyle. His goal is to make therapy fun and empower patients to take what they learn in the clinic and implement it into their lives.

During his free time, Evan actively watches Philadelphia sports, enjoys weightlifting, and practices Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Currently, he is in Physical Therapy First’s residency program and is looking to always improve his clinical knowledge.

Sean Phillips, PT, DPT, OCS

Physical Therapist / Dry Needling Certified

Dr. Phillips completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore (UMES) and his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Dr. Phillips is a residency trained orthopedic physical therapist, a board-certified Orthopedic Specialist (OCS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) and a clinical mentor in PTF’s Orthopedic Residency Program. He is also a clinical mentor in PTF’s orthopedic residency. Dr Phillips is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). He lives in Canton and enjoys participating in recreational sports leagues.

Zachary Roy, PT, DPT, OCS, Cert. MDT

Physical Therapist

Dr. Roy earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, and his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Rutgers University in New Brunswick New Jersey.

Dr. Roy is a board-certified Orthopedic Specialist (OCS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) and he is a certified in The McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (Cert. MDT). Dr. Roy is passionate about treating a variety of orthopedic conditions with keen interest in spinal related pain.

Dr. Roy served as an adjunct faculty member for DeSales University and he worked with first year doctoral physical therapy students to help them develop their critical reasoning and clinical skills on their first patient experiences. Moreover, Dr. Roy has presented at network and regional symposiums regarding evaluating and treating of injured works population with acute low back pain.

During his free time, Zach enjoys running, reading, hiking, weightlifting, and learning new recipes to cook.

Tyler Tice, PT, DPT, MS, OCS, ATC

Physical Therapist / Site Coordinator of Clinical Education / Dry Needling Certified

Dr. Tice earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, a Master’s degree in Anatomy and Clinical Health Sciences, and a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from the University of Delaware. Dr. Tice is residency trained in orthopedics and board-certified Orthopedic Specialist (OCS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) and he is a clinical mentor in PTF’s Orthopedic Residency Program. He is also our Site Coordinator of Clinical Education (SCCE).

Dr. Tice completed the Janet Travell, MD Seminar Series dry needling training program. This rigorous training in dry needling was instructed by internationally renowned physical therapist Jan Dommerholt and others, and concluded with a certification as a Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist (CMTPT) through Myopain Seminars.

During his time at the University of Delaware, Dr. Tice has worked with various athletes across multiple sports from the youth to professional level. He also has experience working in physical therapy inpatient and outpatient settings. In addition, Dr. Tice participated in research at UD’s Tendon Research lab assisting with improving rehabilitation for Achilles Tendon injuries.

In his free time, Tyler likes to stay active by working out, participating in recreational sports, and spending time with his friends and family.

Justin Yerkes, PT, DPT

Physical Therapist

Dr. Yerkes completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Marymount University in Arlington, VA. While at MU, Dr. Yerkes was a Biology lab instructor for undergraduate students. He also had the opportunity to travel to Costa Rica and deliver care to the local population and assist with the opening of an orthopedic physical therapy clinic.

Dr. Yerkes completed his undergraduate studies at McDaniel College, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Physical Education. He also played four years on the McDaniel football team. After graduation, he served as a physical education and weight lifting teacher at a high school outside of Baltimore, Maryland. Currently, he is an active member of the APTA orthopedic section and is enrolled in an orthopaedic residency program working toward his specialist certification in orthopedics (OCS).

Dr. Yerkes continues to stay active by weightlifting, spending time outdoors, and supporting the hometown Ravens and Orioles teams. In his free time he enjoys being on the water, fishing and cooking.

Chin Yoon, PT, DPT

Physical Therapist

Dr. Yoon completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore (UMES), Department of Physical Therapy. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing at University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP) in 1997.

Dr. Yoon enjoys outdoor activities, biking, boxing, mixed martial arts, weightlifting, psychology, audiophile, and horology.
